Brushing your teeth properly and regularly at least twice a day is vital to healthy teeth and gums. Using a soft bristled brush you should brush for a minimum of 2 minutes holding the arm of the brush at a 45 degree angle whether your gums meet your teeth. This way you clean around the gum line as well as between the teeth. Using dental floss and a tongue scraper can help prevent plaque build up and keep breath fresh. Flossing is key because brushing only cleans about 60% of the tooth surface. Any food or drink that could stain a white garment can also stain your teeth – they become more porous as they age so the older your teeth the more stain absorption they will be.
