There several types of cancer that particularly affect men.
This is one of the most common cancers in young men from the age of fifteen. A simple regular check will detect any changes - the best time to do this is after a warm bath or shower when the skin is relaxed. Checks for lumps or swellings should be made, you know what is normal for you - not all irregularities indicate a serious problem but if you find any changes you should consult your G.P immediately.
Enlargement of the prostate happens to all men as they get older and can lead to difficulty in passing urine. Some men develop prostate cancer, if detected early prostate cancer can be cured, the symptoms to look out for are:
Delay in starting to pass urine, passing urine more frequently particularly at night, Blood in the urine, Pain on passing urine.
This cancer is rare but with early detection can be cured. It usually appears under the foreskin and the symptoms to look out for are:
A red velvety patch, A wart like growth, A raw area which may have a smelly discharge, Swollen lymph nodes at the top of the leg.
