Keep your Heart Healthy

By: Vipul / Category: Healthy Living

The general rule of thumb to keep your heart healthy is to eat at least 5 portions of a variety of fruit and vegetables every day.  Also to include oily fish once a week such as mackerel, sardines, fresh tuna and salmon which are a rich source of omega 3 fats.  Plant sources of omega 3 include linseed and flaxseed oil, soya beans, brazil nuts and pumpkin seeds.  a high intake of soluble fibre from foods such as oats and oat based cereals can also help to lower cholesterol levels.  Soluble fibre is also found in foods such as lentils, kidney beans, soya beans and other pulses and fruits and vegetables.
