Stress is the ‘wear and tear’ our minds and bodies experience as we attempt to cope with our changing environment. It’s normally associated with pressure at work, a sick child or rush hour traffic. These are known as triggers. The effect on our body can be symptoms such as increased heart rate and blood pressure, faster breathing, muscle tension, dilated pupils dry mouth and increased bloody sugar. Whenever we feel anxious, tense, tired frightened, elated or depressed we are undergoing stress. Exposure to excessive stress results in hormonal imbalances which produce a variety of symptoms.

Physical Symptoms:
Changes in sleep patterns

Fatigue
Headaches
Dizziness, faintness, sweating and trembling

Emotions Symptoms:
Fits of rage
Tearfulness
Bouts of depression

Mental Symptoms:
Lack of concentration
Memory lapses
Confusions
Panic attacks

Behavioral symptoms:
Appetite changes
Increased intake of alcohol and other drugs
Increased smoking
Restlessness
Fidgeting

By stress management you can control the effects of stress to help your physical mental and emotional well being. Remedial actions such as changing your thinking, behaviors and lifestyle you can relieve current problems and symptoms as well as prevent recurrences.
