The vast majority of people in the UK have suffered common bowel problems such as constipation but put it down to norm. Your bowels and the consistency etc of your faeces can help identify serious health issues such as dehydration. To promote good healthy bowel there are a few things which we can do:
- Eating lots of fibre from starchy foods.
- Eating regularly, especially a good breakfast as this stimulates the gastro colic reflex which is a bowel movement. By delaying breakfast food stays in the bowels longer.
- Hydrate yourself – drink plenty of fluids.
- Keep active – regular exercise helps with issues such as constipation.
